Fine Dining at the Alter Wirt

All our meals are prepared using only the finest products and fresh, organic produce sourced directly from regional small-scale artisan firms and farmers, primarily based in or around Grünwald. This results in top-quality cuisine with “personality” rather than the anonymous mass-produced food served elsewhere. Regular, personal contact and exchange with our partners from the various agricultural sectors on an equal footing is important to us and forms the basis for a genuine and consistently regional and seasonal culture of enjoyment at Alter Wirt.

Organic Cuisine

What’s in season right now? Nature and the four seasons set the rhythm in our certified organic kitchen. They are decisive for what we put on our menu and specials board: vegetarian dishes, fine fish specialities, traditional meat dishes such as our genuine Bavarian pork roast, salads with seasonal herbs or one of our regional Bavarian delicacies. Weather permitting, we’re also happy to serve you out on the sun terrace under the chestnut trees.

We’re open every day and serve hot meals throughout the day in addition to a selection of daily changing dishes. There’s a tempting breakfast buffet laid on every morning and the traditional ceremonial tapping of the beer barrel takes place in the guestroom at 18:00 each evening.

The Restaurant

Arrive and enjoy – in our modern and ecologically designed restaurant with its open views into the working kitchen. The ambience in the guestroom is suffused with the essence of wood, clay, wicker, copper and glass – contemporary materials that already existed 100 years ago. Our guests sense these high-quality materials and the no-frills, calm atmosphere they create.

Restaurant ``Marktplatz Stube``

Enjoy the charms of our rustic cosy room towards the “Marketplace” of Grünwald. This historic room is where we make true Bavarian inn culture come alive for all the senses.

Restaurant “Flößer Stube”

This room, dedicated to the raftsmen, is a particular favourite for our guests during winter. The creaking wood on the walls and ceiling originally comes from an ancient Tyrolean mountain hut.

Eco-Hotel

Our ecological aspirations go far beyond the skilled preparation of regionally-sourced organic produce. We’re a superior quality certified 3-star Eco-Hotel, which means that all our hotel operations are carried out in a holistic and sustainable manner in accordance with ecological standards.

Organic Certification and Quality

Ours is a certified organic restaurant. The produce and products used in our kitchen are all sourced from organic farms. We are regularly inspected by independent auditors in accordance with European Union Regulation No. 2092/91 (aka the EU-Eco-regulation).
